David joined Axon in January 2017 as an Underwriting Manager, where he is responsible for underwriting and developing Axon’s various products and services.  He is also involved in the identification of, and product deployment for, new market segments.

David began his insurance career as an environmental underwriter at James River Insurance Company, helping the company start its Environmental Division.  David then joined Markel Corporation and served as an Underwriting Manager in the Southeast’s Environmental and Energy Product Line.  He has 13 years of insurance carrier experience underwriting general liability, contractor’s pollution liability, pollution legal liability, products pollution liability, professional liability and excess casualty for complex and hard to place risks.  David was also responsible for new product development and underwriter training.  He has built extensive wholesale relationships and a reputation as a solutions oriented underwriter.

Prior to insurance, David has 7 years’ experience as an Environmental Scientist at various environmental consulting firms throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. His focus was on groundwater investigations and remediation, fugitive gas emissions and regulatory compliance.  David also holds a B.S. degree in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise.
